    • Denis Gorteman started his career in the automotive sector in 1988 at D'Ieteren Lease, the long-term leasing subsidiary of the D'Ieteren Group. In 1996, he was appointed member of the Management Committee in charge of the Operations department of the financing and leasing activities. Appointed General Manager of D'Ieteren Lease in 2003, Denis and his team set up the first vehicle fleet securitization program. This original financing method allows D'Ieteren Lease to grow without being an excessive financial burden for its parent company. Thanks to this operation, the fleet increases by half during the following three years. In November 2008, Denis joins the other pole of activity of the D'Ieteren group, Belron, world leader in the repair and replacement of car windows. In 2010, as head of operational strategy, he won the "Belron Award for Innovation in Customer Service" for the implementation of a solution to improve the speed of service, a key differentiating factor for customer satisfaction. Since January 2012, Denis is CEO of D'Ieteren Automotive, distributor in Belgium of the Volkswagen Group brands.     • Josep Nadal Puigvert is the cluster manager of CIAC, position that he holds since 2018. He has experience in other companies in the automotive sector, although he has work in a broad variety of sectors: Brake Discs, Alternavida SA, Gryyp Line SL and DOGA. In the latter, he was Product Manager at the forefront of the strategy for launching new products, as well as he focused on the integral management of projects and tailored solutions for clients. Josep Nadal has been for over two years the Project Manager of CIAC, leading CIAC’s own collaborative projects, promoted with the companies that are members of the entity.     • Paul-Henri Gilissen a suivi un parcours pour le moins atypique. Après avoir entamé un cursus aux HEC de Liège, sa passion pour l’automobile l’a conduit vers différentes formations en alternance et c’est aussi bien sur le terrain que comme autodidacte qu’il s’est forgé une connaissance approfondie des différentes facettes de l’automobile et de son environnement. A 24 ans, il crée sa propre entreprise et représente successivement les marques VOLVO et FORD. Simultanément, il est sollicité pour intervenir en tant que formateur technique dans le domaine de la formation des futurs chefs d’entreprise. Un peu plus tard, tout en continuant à gérer son entreprise, il devient responsable du centre de formation de Ford. A 34 ans, il remet son entreprise pour se consacrer exclusivement au domaine de la formation dans le secteur auto. Il est nommé Directeur d’un centre de Compétence de la Région wallonne spécialisé dans le domaine automobile. C’est l’occasion pour lui de continuer à étudier la grande diversité de ce secteur passionnant où l’évolution est rapide et multiple. A 45 ans, il est appelé à la Direction Générale d’EDUCAM Service, organisme sectoriel de formation pour l’automobile et les secteurs connexes pour l’ensemble du territoire belge. EDUCAM a organisé des formations pour plus de 22.500 personnes en 2019. Il s’agit essentiellement de travailleurs du secteur auto et des secteurs connexes dans des domaines aussi diversifiés que la technique automobile ou le management. Paul-Henri Gilissen a également été Président du Campus Automobile de Francorchamps, qui organise, par exemple, un Master en « Sustainable automotive technologies » pour l’Université de Liège. A 57 ans, il est choisi comme Group Managing Director d’EDUCAM. Il est également Président du Centre de Compétence AutoFORM à Liège. Attentif à l’évolution continue de notre monde moderne et en particulier du secteur auto et de son environnement, Paul-Henri Gilissen est reconnu pour sa clairvoyance et pour aborder, parfois avec une approche un peu décalée, les défis à relever. Il est régulièrement appelé à intervenir dans différents types d’évènements comme orateur ou Keynote speaker. Son parcours implique qu’il met toujours l’humain et son édification au centre de ses préoccupations.

    • Jaime Barea, Corporate Director of the National Association of Motor Vehicle, Repair and Spare Parts Vendors (GANVAM), boasts more than twenty years of experience in the automotive industry. He graduated in Law and Political Science from the Complutense University of Madrid and holds a Master's in International Relations from the Diplomatic School of Madrid. He joined GANVAM in 1998 as a legal advisor and six years later became the director of that department. After fourteen years at the helm, in 2018 he also became director of the association's corporate department. In addition, he combines his role at GANVAM with lecturing on Tax and Legal Studies as part of IE Business School's Advanced Programme for Automobile Companies.

    • Raúl Palacios was unanimously re-elected as president of the board of directors for a new four-year term in October 2021, with a firm commitment to foster the adaptation of the distribution industry to the new business model based on factors such as digitisation, electrification or new mobility. Palacios, who joined GANVAM as a member of the board of directors in 2017 to promote the implementation of the comprehensive project to revitalise the association, revalidated his position after first assuming the presidency of GANVAM in the middle of the previous term (2019). Raúl Palacios' career has always been linked to the automotive industry. He graduated in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Valencia and then joined the Palacios group of dealers, where he held various positions of responsibility until becoming president.

    • Claire Escartin, deputy director and CMO of LG Barcelona, the branch of LG GROUPE in Spain, with 15 years in the automotive sector. Born in France, she graduated in Law and completed a master's degree in Environmental Law in Madrid. She started at RENAULT implementing ISO standards and, after several years working as a freelance consultant, she returned to the automotive industry at AutoBeltran, a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Barcelona until it was acquired by Groupe LG. In charge of the marketing department for 10 years, she adapted the distributor to the transformation of online sales, achieving a great increase in sales in that channel. She has taken a new step in her career becoming the deputy director of LG Barcelona since March 2022, a position that allows her to actively participate in the development of the Company's future strategy, as well as help it face the new challenges that arise.

    • Mark Nicklas is the Head of Unit Mobility in the Commission’s DG Industry, Single Market, Entrepeneurship & SMEs (DG GROW) since February 2022, responsible for the industrial policy for the European mobility ecosystem and the single market for motor vehicles. He has been a Head of Unit in DG GROW since 2016, with previous responsibilities for innovation, industrial strategy and most recently international value chains. Before joining DG GROW in 2011, Mark was working for several years on international aviation policy in the European Commission’s DG Mobility & Transport. From 1999 to 2002, he had various functions in the Deutsche Telekom group. Mark holds a Ph.D. in economics.

    • Former Minister of Education and Culture from 2000 to 2004, del Castillo was elected to the European Parliament for the first time in 2004. She is a member of the European People’s Party (EPP) and belongs to the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), and the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO). She is the European Parliament’s rapporteur on the Data Act and she has also been, among others, the rapporteur on the European Electronic Communications Code; the Telecoms Single Market Regulation; the Directive on Security of Networks and Information Systems for the ITRE committee; the Regulation on the Body of European Regulators in Electronic Communications' (BEREC); the report on Cloud Computing Strategy for Europe and the Report "A Digital Agenda for Europe: 2015.eu. She is Co-Chair of the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Intergroup and she has been a member of the European Parliament Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in a Digital Age (AIDA). She is the Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community. She is the Chair of the European Internet Forum (EIF). Del Castillo is Vice-president of the European Energy Forum and member of the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN). Del Castillo is Professor in Political Science and Administration. She obtained a PhD in Law from Universidad Complutense. Before, she had attended Ohio State University on a Fulbright scholarship, graduating with a Master’s degree in Political Science. She was the Executive President of the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (Sociology Research Centre) from 1996 to 2000. She is Vice-president of the Board of the Prado Museum.
